Head basketball coach Mike White added another talented prospect to Florida’s 2017 recruiting class.
Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy four-star guard/forward DeAundrae Ballard verbally committed to Florida on Monday night. The 6-foot-6, 170-pound Ballard is listed as the 58th-best overall prospect in the 2017 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Both of Florida’s 2017 commits are top 60 prospects, as Ballard joined four-star guard Shai Alexander in the Gators’ class. Alexander is listed as the 49th-best overall player in the class.
Ballard’s commitment was first reported by HoopsSeen.com and was later confirmed by Rivals.
According to Scout, Ballard “brings a combination of size, athleticism, and scoring potential to Gainesville,” but “his outside shot could still stand to improve, but he is someone who just finds a way to get buckets and points on the board” with the help of his mid-range game and ability to get to the rim.
Ballard averaged 23.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.4 steals per game during his junior season at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, which is the same school Dwight Howard attended.
