Here’s the Gators news you need to know to begin your Tuesday …
1. WR transferring from Gators: Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Ryan Sousa is reportedly transferring from Florida. “Alright UF It was fun but now it’s time to move on with my career. Miss all y’all boys,” Sousa tweeted. After signing with Florida as a three-star recruit in 2014, Sousa took a redshirt in his first year and appeared in two games last season.
2. Gators in Georgia: We’re starting to find out more details about the Gators’ satellite camp tour. According to the Mercer football program’s Twitter account, the Gators are one of 10 “special guests” at Mercer’s Elite Camp on June 3-4. The camp will take place at Mercer University in Macon, Ga., which is located about 80 minutes from Atlanta. Georgia is an important state in Florida’s recruiting plan, as the Gators have signed seven prospects from the state over their past two recruiting cycles.
3. Rick Barry’s son picks Gators: Canyon Barry, the son of NBA Hall of Famer Rick Barry, told ESPN he would transfer from the College of Charleston to Florida. Barry reportedly chose UF over his father’s alma mater, Miami, Cal, Kansas, Louisville and others. He averaged 19.7 points points in 13 games at guard for Charleston. After redshirting his freshman season, he made the Colonial Athletic Association’s All-Rookie Team in 2014.
