Florida Gators: 5 things to watch in Friday’s spring football game

After a month full of practices, Florida’s spring game is almost here.

Notebook: Gators quarterbacks ‘took some steps back’ during spring scrimmage

GAINESVILLE — The quarterback battle has been one of the most intriguing spring storylines for the Gators, but coach Jim McElwain wasn’t overly impressed with how the quarterbacks played in Florida’s second spring scrimmage Friday.

Gators RB Jordan Scarlett calls Citrus Bowl suspension “humbling experience”

Running back Jordan Scarlett learned a lot during his first season with the Gators.

The former Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas star arrived to Gainesville as a four-star prospect, but he ended his freshman season serving a one-game suspension. Scarlett was suspended for the Citrus Bowl after being charged on Dec. 23 with first degree misdemeanors for marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Notebook: Jim McElwain pleased with Gators’ first spring scrimmage

GAINESVILLE — Florida held its first spring scrimmage on Thursday, allowing Jim McElwain to evaluate his team in game situations for the first time this month.

Overall, the Gators’ second-year coach was pleased with the scrimmage.

Notebook: Florida Gators set to hold first spring scrimmage Thursday

GAINESVILLE — Florida is scheduled to hold its first full spring scrimmage Thursday.

Coach Jim McElwain said the team will have between 117-128 reps inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, with an emphasis on situational drills.

Gators LB Jarrad Davis ‘really excited’ to practice against big RB Mark Thompson

Stuff to get you ready for start of Florida Gators spring football

The Gators begin spring football this afternoon.

Florida will hold 15 spring practices, including its annual spring football game on Friday, April 8 at 7 p.m in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
